Why is Radon So Important?
Over 50% of all homes tested in Ohio have elevated levels of radon, but what is radon gas? Radon is a naturally occurring gas that comes from the ground. It's all around us but usually doesn't bother us unless it starts to collect in our homes undetectable unless it is tested for. Some people believe that slab homes, walk-out basements, or newly built homes can't have radon but the truth is these can have little effect on the indoor radon levels. Long term exposure to radon has been known to cause lung cancer, in fact the EPA ranks radon as the second leading cause of lung cancer. The EPA also recommends testing be done at least once every two years and after any remodeling. Be in the know!
A Radon test takes a minimum of 48 hours, is small taking up little space, makes no noise, and doesn't impact daily life. With the limited amount of effort to test and the huge impacts of your life, radon inspections are a no brainer!
