1. The EPA states that almost 50% of Ohio sewer systems are nearing their end of their life expectancy.
2. Even new construction homes may have deficiencies from the construction process including improper instillation, construction debris, or heavy machinery. Sewer line repairs can cost you 10's of thousands of dollars in repairs or the dreaded Sewer Backup! All of our sewer scopes include a copy of the HD video for your records.
It's always highly recommended to have sewer video camera inspection. Even in brand new construction we have found construction debris or damaged line. We also inspect lines on private septic tanks, yard drainage, footer drains and more. Unfortunately most sewer deficiencies go unnoticed until a backup. Don't get stuck in a stinky situation.
Most city Point of Sale inspections are done via a dye test. This can confirm water flows from the structure to the street or septic tank however they don't check the line itself. You can still have roots, damages, or signs of backups that go unnoticed.
We offer defect locating when applicable. This technology can also be used to help locate Septic tanks, Depths, and much more to help with not only repairs but also new construction such as adding that bathroom you have always wanted!
Root intrusion is one of the most common defects we find. Roots can trap debris being flushed resulting in blockages and sewage back-ups.
Collapsed pipes need replacement. Most older homes still have to original clay lines which are susceptible to damages from shifting, roots, cars, garages, and general age.
Offsets are when two joints of a pipe section don't line up quite right. This is typically caused by settlement, repair, or root intrusion. Offsets can lead to debris collection resulting in blockades and back-ups.
Not all repairs are created equal. The above image depicts a new sewer line replacement that wasn't installed properly. ESPI can double check these repairs for proper function to save you money down the line.
When pipes aren't installed properly, or have heavy machinery such as ride on mowers, can actually crush underground pipes. This can result in breakages of the sewer line.
